Domaine Rennepont

A Place Steeped in History

You can still feel the former grandeur of Domaine Rennepont everywhere you go. Our estate was first mentioned in historical records dating back to 1605, but its story goes back even further. The current buildings stand on the foundations of a 9th‑century castle that was destroyed in the 16th century.

Once, Domaine Rennepont served as a monastic farm belonging to the Abbey of Clairvaux, and later it was home to several noble families – the Seigneurs and Marquis de Rennepont – until the French Revolution.

Over the centuries, the estate slowly fell into decline and functioned mostly as a farm. In 2004, the first major renovations began, gradually restoring its former glory. Since 2024, we have been the proud owners, continuing that restoration with love – creating a place to celebrate, connect and enjoy.

Locals still know it as ‘Le Château de Rennepont’. But we prefer to think of it as a true Domaine: warm, welcoming and down‑to‑earth. A place where people feel at ease, where laughter fills the air and where life is meant to be celebrated – exactly how we like it.

Indoors and Outdoors

Endless Possibilities

Our Domaine is perfect for events thanks to all the different options it offers. Whether you’re dreaming of an intimate dinner under the stars, a lively party with a dance floor or a cosy gathering by a crackling fire: the Domaine adapts effortlessly.

With 1.1 hectares of greenery, old character-filled walls and plenty of places to stay, there is space to create, celebrate and enjoy. We like to think flexibly: for every weather type and every idea, we find a beautiful solution.

The “Bergerie” – a former 120 m² sheep barn – forms the heart of many celebrations. Beautifully renovated using materials from the estate itself, complete with bar, dance floor and everything you need for an unforgettable evening.

And then there is the “Grange”, our dining hall: spacious and impressive, with its open roof structure and 400 m² of space. Perfect as an elegant back-up option when the weather is less than ideal.

Welcome to the southern Champagne region – the quiet and still undiscovered part of the famous wine area. Here, you won’t find crowds, but small family-run champagne houses where you can simply ring the bell for a tasting. Visit a few of the nearly 2,500 producers, listen to their stories and discover how champagne is *really* made. And of course, take home a few bottles.

The surroundings of Domaine Rennepont are perfect for those who love the outdoors. Rolling hills, forests and peaceful country roads invite you to walk, cycle or simply do nothing at all. Or take a refreshing dip in the little river near our Domaine. Each season feels relaxed here, offering space and tranquillity you won’t easily find in the Netherlands anymore.

Cities

Troyes is a wonderful city for a day out: colourful half-timbered houses, cosy squares, and lots of nice shops and restaurants. Everything is within walking distance and pleasantly compact. It’s also well known for its large outlet centres of major brands – ideal for a shopping trip. If you're up for a slightly longer drive, you’ll also reach Dijon in no time, famous for its mustard, markets and relaxed French atmosphere — perfect for a Burgundian day trip.

Amusement park Nigloland is just 20 minutes from Domaine Rennepont and is surprisingly fun for young and old. The park is green, easy to navigate and full of attractions, shows and restaurants. From thrilling rollercoasters to gentle carousels for the little ones — there’s something for everyone. In autumn, the park transforms completely for Halloween.

Lakes

A 40-minute drive away lies Lac d’Orient, a large lake in the nature reserve of the same name. You can swim, paddleboard, sail or rent a boat. Around the lake you’ll find beaches, walking trails and lovely spots to grab a bite to eat. Perfect for a relaxing day out.

Culture

Abbaye de Clairvaux (6)

There is also plenty to discover culturally. In Colombey-les-Deux-Églises you can visit the home of General De Gaulle and the modern Mémorial Charles de Gaulle — an impressive museum about his life and legacy, with stunning views over the hills. Not far from there lies the ancient Abbey of Clairvaux, founded by Bernard of Clairvaux. A special outing for anyone who loves history and tranquillity.
